Attorney Michael P. Stapleton was admitted to both the Massachusetts Bar and the Florida Bar in 1998, and to the US District Court of Massachusetts in 2006. He has had an extensive career as a trial attorney in both the prosecution and defense of all types of cases and he currently specializes in Criminal Defense cases. (Learn about Practice Areas.)
Attorney Stapleton grew up in Boston and Canton, Massachusetts and graduated from Canton High School. He earned an Engineering Degree from Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Buzzard’s Bay, MA, where he then worked testing systems aboard the U.S. Navy’s nuclear aircraft carriers. He attended New England School of Law and Boston College, graduating Cum Laude and earning graduate degrees in both Law and Business Administration. He worked as a consultant for Ernst and Young in the Netherlands.
Upon returning from the Netherlands, Attorney Stapleton worked in the Norfolk County District Attorney’s office for eight years. As Assistant DA, he prosecuted hundreds of cases in Dedham and Quincy District Courts and in Norfolk Superior Court. His cases included drug, firearm, OUI, motor vehicle homicides, assault and batteries, white collar larcenies, armed robberies, home invasions, trafficking and felony assaults. In 2005, Attorney Stapleton opened up a law office in Canton, MA. He and his family presently reside on the South Shore.
